Definition
A dependent variable is a variable that depends on the value of another variable, often referred to as the independent variable. In a function, the dependent variable is usually represented on the y-axis, while the independent variable is represented on the x-axis. For example, in the equation y = 2x + 3, y is the dependent variable because its value changes based on the value of x.
