Definition
A line segment that connects two nonconsecutive (non-adjacent) vertices of a polygon.
In simple terms:
A segment that goes from one corner to the opposite corner, skipping the sides.
Example:
In parallelogram ABCD, AC and BD are diagonals.
Important Note (Parallelograms):
Diagonals of a parallelogram bisect each other (they cut each other in half).
