Distance refers to the length of the shortest path between two points.
More specifically:
The distance between two points on a flat surface (a plane) is measured as the length of the straight line connecting them.
In the coordinate plane, you can use the distance formula to calculate it:

where (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) are the coordinates of the two points.
