Definition
An image is the resulting figure after a transformation has been applied to an original figure (called the preimage).
Key Points:
The image is what you get after a translation, reflection, rotation, dilation, or a combination of these.
The image and preimage are related by the specific rule of the transformation.
Images are often labeled with a prime symbol ('). For example, if the preimage is point A, the image after transformation is A'.
Example:
If triangle ABC is reflected over the y-axis, the new triangle A'B'C' is the image of triangle ABC.
