Two sides of a polygon that are across from each other and do not share a vertex.
In simple terms:
Sides that face each other.
Example:
In parallelogram ABCD, AB and CD are opposite sides. BC and AD are also opposite sides.

Important Note (Parallelograms):
In a parallelogram, opposite sides are both parallel and congruent.
