Definition
Vertical refers to a line that runs up and down on a graph. A vertical line has a constant x-coordinate for all values of y. This means that no matter what value you choose for y, the value of x remains the same. The equation of a vertical line can be written in the form x = k, where k is a constant. For example, the line x = 2 is vertical and passes through the point (2, 0), as well as all other points where the x-coordinate is 2.
