Definition

Two sides of a polygon that share a common endpoint (vertex).

In simple terms:

Sides that are next to each other and meet at a corner.

Example:

In parallelogram ABCD, sides AB and BC are adjacent because they meet at point B.

A quadrilateral with vertices labeled A, B, C and D.

Important Note (Parallelograms):

Adjacent sides are consecutive sides and are not parallel to each other (unlike opposite sides).
