Inequality Gators: Systems
Instructions
Read the beach. Each rope connects two posts labeled with a letter and color.
Write an inequality. Enter an inequality whose boundary line passes through the rope’s two posts. Use slope-intercept, point-slope, or standard form.
Choose the wave’s direction. Select the inequality symbol to determine which side of the line is shaded.
Protect the Bulb Buddies. Wash away every alligator without letting the overlapping waves sweep away the Buddies.
Check your boundaries. Use a solid line when the boundary is included < or > and a dashed line when it is not < or >.
Submit your answer. The game gives feedback when an inequality is incorrect, helping you identify whether the line, shading, or boundary type needs fixing.
Earn points and advance. Fewer attempts earn more points. Clear all 20 levels and see if you can make the leaderboard!
Introduction
The gators are back, and this time every beach has two ropes! In this free math game, students graph systems of linear inequalities by sending waves across a coordinate plane. The waves overlap to form a riptide that represents the solution set. Wash away every alligator while keeping the Bulb Buddies safe as you practice graphing inequalities, identifying overlapping regions, and choosing solid or dashed boundary lines.
WHY THIS GAME MATTERS
Why students love this game:
Watch the solution come to life. Each inequality sends a wave across the graph, and the overlapping shaded regions form a riptide students can see.
Save the Bulb Buddies. Wash away the gators while keeping the Buddies safe. Every beach becomes a new puzzle to solve.
Get useful feedback. When an answer misses, the game explains whether the boundary line is wrong, the shading is incorrect, or the line should be solid or dashed.
Play a new challenge every time. Freshly generated levels keep students thinking instead of memorizing answers.
Compete for the high score. Earn more points by solving each beach in fewer attempts.
Skills students build:
Graphing Systems of Linear Inequalities
Finding the Solution Set
Solid and Dashed Boundaries
Writing Inequalities from Points
