Falling Factors: Algebra

Instructions

Choose a level and press Play. Expressions will begin falling into the well.

Select a falling expression and type one factor. The game finds the other factor and splits the expression in two.

For example, if the expression is x² + 5x + 6, enter x + 2. The game verifies the factor and splits the expression into x + 2 and x + 3.

Keep factoring until nothing can split further. Prime numbers, variables, and factors such as x + 3 pop and clear.

Clear 10 expressions to complete a round. Each round gets faster and introduces new challenges.

Don't let the stack reach the top. Clear expressions before they land for double points, build streaks for score multipliers, and use hammer bulbs to clear entire columns.

Introduction

Falling Factors: Algebra is a free Algebra 1 game where students factor polynomial expressions by splitting them into smaller factors until nothing can be factored further. Expressions fall into a growing stack, and students race against gravity to find factors, factor completely, and keep the stack from reaching the top. With levels for monomials, binomials, and trinomials, students practice greatest common factors, differences of squares, and factoring trinomials in a fast-paced game.

WHY THIS GAME MATTERS

Why students love this game:

  • It feels like a real arcade game instead of a factoring worksheet

  • Falling expressions create urgency as the stack grows

  • Every correct factor creates an immediate visual payoff

  • Prime factors pop and clear

  • Hammer bulbs can clear an entire column

  • Streaks and score multipliers reward accuracy

  • A shared leaderboard gives students a reason to play again

  • Mistakes provide hints instead of simply marking an answer wrong

Skills students build:

  • Factoring out the greatest common factor

  • Factoring binomials

  • Factoring differences of squares

  • Factoring trinomials

  • Recognizing special factoring patterns

  • Factoring completely

  • Checking whether an expression can be factored further

Great For

This free algebra game is especially useful for:
